Registration closes on October 31, 2016, for all LEED v3 rating systems. After that date, no new LEED v3 project registrations will be accepted. The next key deadline for these projects is the rating system sunset date in 2022. GBCI will continue to accept initial applications (for Design or Standard preliminary review) for certification until the LEED v3 sunset date of June 30, 2022. These deadlines apply to all of the LEED v3 rating systems:

After the sunset date of June 30, 2022, GBCI will stop accepting initial applications for certification using LEED v3 rating systems. Those systems will then be considered closed for certification, or sunset.

To certify a project using one of the above-listed rating systems, you must submit for at least one stage of review prior to the sunset date. June 30, 2022, is the last day we'll accept first-time submissions for Design or Standard (Combined) review.

After June 30, 2022:

For teams that have not submitted for any stage of review, project access will be restricted, and team members will not be able to submit for review.

For project teams that have already submitted an initial application, full access (including the ability to submit for review) will remain available throughout the remaining time allotted to your team to finish the certification process. What if you can’t meet a deadline?

If you can’t meet a particular deadline, you can choose among a few options:

Upgrade your project to a newer version. Contact us to make the switch.
Contact us. Before the deadline, send us the details concerning your project, and we’ll explore alternative options.
Do nothing. You also have the option of not doing anything; however, if we don’t hear from you, your project will sunset on June 30, 2022, and you will no longer be able to access your project. Note: if you decide to pursue certification at a later date, the project will need to be reregistered under a newer version of LEED.
